My Core Values

My approach to coaching is underpinned by my personal core values:

Family

As a mum, I believe family is extremely important.  I am constantly striving to be a good mum and support to my family.  I value the time spent together in my little family unit of three (+ fur-baby!).

Being there for my son's childhood as much as possible is particularly important to me.  One day he won't need me as much, so I want to make the most of these years while I can!

Health

The feeling of being strong, fit, and fuelling my body with quality food and sleep is so empowering.

Feeling good brings me confidence and allows me to show up at my best for myself, my family, my work and my future.

I'm frightened of becoming frail in my older years; struggling to play with the grandkids and being a drain on health services.

I want my independence and good health as I age, and that means putting the work in now.

 Resilience

Life is always going to continue to throw us curveballs.

It's how you respond to them that defines you; you can either let them beat you, or make you stronger.

I see obstacles as challenges to get over or around; learning, growing and building strength as I go.

I don't like to be defeated, and I always look for a workaround!

Kindness

Kindness costs nothing.  I treat everyone how I would want to be treated.

You don't always know what someone else is going through, and being kind to them might just make their day a little bit easier, brighter, happier; and it makes you feel good too :)

A bit more about me

I've always been active and sporty from childhood and as I grew up I used exercise as a means of clearing my head and getting that wonderful endorphin hit!  But I couldn't understand why I was still feeling unhappy in my own skin after all the exercise and dieting I was doing.  After turning to a coach for an exercise and nutrition plan my eyes were opened to different types of training and how to manage my diet.  I started to feel healthier and happier, and my interest in health and fitness rocketed.  I wanted to learn more and help others who were stuck in the same loop that I once was.  So with my enhanced curiosity for training and nutrition, I studied and qualified with a level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

I'm now a mum, but falling pregnant wasn't easy for me, so when it finally happened I was terrified of how exercise would affect the pregnancy.  I just stuck to walking during my ante-natal period, but I now know that I should have done more in preparation for my post-natal recovery.  The detrimental effects this had on my body piqued my interest in the pelvic floor and ante- & post-natal exercise, so I took a qualification in this field.  I wish I knew then what I know now, but it's reassuring that I can now help ante- & post-natal people to avoid the mistakes that I made.

I'm not getting any younger, and as an older mum to a young child I've been very aware of how this affects my energy levels.  Exercise is helping me keep up with my son (and keep me sane!), but it's made me curious about exercise as we get older - how and what should we be doing as we age?  After researching the exercise considerations and benefits for the older adult, I gained a qualification for coaching this population.  Even with all the previous knowledge I have, studying this particular area has really opened my eyes to just how important exercise is and how it can increase our health span in later years.  With the correct coaching, participation in exercise can and should be achieved even with age-related ailments such as arthritis.  It's drummed into us to invest in our financial pensions, but it's just as important (if not more) to invest in our physical pensions; we need good health to enjoy our older years!

Through my own personal experiences and further education, I've learnt that balance and planning ahead is key to maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle, and that these things can be incorporated into a busy schedule without having to sacrifice the occasional treat.  My aim is to help others find the same balance, health and happiness.

Client Testimonials

Emma (Personal Training):

"I’ve been working with Lianne for around 3 years now and I can’t believe how quickly that time as gone. Before I met Lianne I didn’t really enjoy going into the gym, I had never really enjoyed weight training and I didn’t really like exercising! I also wasn’t in a great place mentally due to lots of personal reasons but the personal training really helped me and lianne made me feel comfortable and excited to reach my goals. I feel fitter, healthier and we are always trying to push me to reach new goals. I couldn’t recommend Lianne enough and she now has become an amazing friend who I hope to train with for many more years to come!"

Vicky (Personal Training):

"I started training with Lianne a few months ago and before that never saw myself as someone who would or could lift weights. Lianne listened to what I wanted to achieve from my sessions and has helped me fit it in around a busy job, three kids and a dog! I've made great progress in that time and not just with the weights. I feel healthier, more toned and my clothes fit! Lianne has shown me that weights are not just for bodybuilders! She has a fantastic way of pushing you just the right amount while keeping you motivated and is a genuinely lovely person. I can't recommend her highly enough."

Elliza (Personal Training):

"I am currently in my third month with Lianne; each week brings new challenges and she certainly pushes me to give my best effort every session. We are working towards improving my general fitness, whilst I continue to lose weight and tone up along the way for my upcoming wedding. I am improving week on week and am seeing results that I certainly couldn’t achieve on my own! Lianne will be your biggest cheerleader and I am so pleased to be on this journey with her as my personal trainer. Thanks Lianne- you are a super star! "

Lisa (Personal Training):

"I've been working with Lianne for about 7 months now which has been throughout my whole pregnancy journey and I have found it such a supportive and empowering experience. Lianne has truly listened to what is going on for me, what feels right for me and constantly adapts our programme depending on this which, as she has taught me, in pregnancy is super important. Lianne has checked in with me out with sessions regarding certain pregnancy aches and pains which feels really supportive. Lianne has also taught me many things about my body, exercise and pregnancy which was really important for me to learn and she has always told me the rationale behind doing certain parts of my programme and how this is related to my pregnancy body and postpartum. This has felt really empowering. I'm grateful for finding Lianne as she has helped me continue with my fitness journey throughout pregnancy when exercise during pregnancy can sometimes feel initially scary. Thank you Lianne!"

Rachel (Personal Training & Hybrid Training):

"Lianne is great. I love her being my personal trainer. She has pushed me in every session and I can really see the difference on myself and so have other people. I really wish I could keep her forever. She really knows what she is doing and will change things about to suit you, if you find anything too difficult, nothing is too much trouble."

Peter (Personal Training):

"My biggest concern when starting my fitness journey was that I just felt like gym spaces were just so overwhelming and just not a place I had any confidence being in. From the moment I met Lianne at my induction she made me feel so confident and comfortable I just haven't looked back! Watching my fitness grow has been such a surreal experience and Lianne has taught me that anything is achievable. Even on days when I'm tired and not really feeling a desire to exercise she is able to coax it out of me and I am now 6 weeks into one of the best experiences I've ever had. We constantly laughing through my sessions and I honestly cannot recommend her enough!"

Wendy (Personal Training):

"Stronger body and mind! I cannot thank Lianne enough for truly lifting me up! Coming up to my sixth week of two sessions a week, I am stronger, I can get down and up from the floor easily and there has been a massive improvement in my back. I have had so much fun getting fitter and stronger. I checked out Lianne and she particularly stood out as she has a qualification in training those over 55 – and that is me as well as carrying a bit too much weight alongside having lipeodema. Lianne has read up on my condition and designed my programme around it. She has massively boosted my confidence too. Her sessions are challenging but they are also fun. Highly recommended."

John (Personal Training):

"Lianne is an awesome coach and has designed a strength plan that is tailored exactly to what I am looking to achieve and really enjoyable. The sessions are well planned, progressive and find the right balance between pushing you hard but not over doing it!"

Charlene (Personal Training):

"Lianne is amazing, i first took advantage of the free PT session back in April not long after LEO opened and i'm so glad i did, i had been on my own health kick and weight loss journey prior and felt i needed to tone up i was actually so unsure of how to go about this, the one thing i was sure of is i wasn't wanting to attend a gym/studio full of others with the greatest of fitness. The initial session with Lianne was great she made me feel so at ease, with lots of encouragement, i honestly felt i was in safe hands! Skip forward six months and im a regular PT client of Lianne, i attend a weekly circuit class run by Abbie on a Sunday, i even have the confidence to book a station and go into the LEO studio alone at the time of day i chose to fit in with my daily life, Lianne sets me a programme so i know what im doing alone too!! We've recently spoke about weight goals and diet, Lianne has been amazing even helping me work towards this with a diet and nutrition plan set in place. I can honestly say i live for my sessions with her, i couldn't have done this alone, in the last six months i have gained strength and confidence and also a friend! And for that i'm grateful, Thank you Lianne!"

Sue (Older Adult Class):

"I’ve been suffering for a long time with lower back pain and right knee arthritis. I realised I needed to build my strength up with core exercises - I had a steroid knee injection but this was only a short term fix and to prevent further deterioration I knew I had to do something about it, so I booked onto the LEO Older Adult class. I was apprehensive on the first session but excited to think it would relieve my symptoms. Lianne made us very welcome and I totally felt at ease from the word go. Lianne made it fun but we worked hard and my body definitely felt I had worked! I’ve been attending the class for six weeks now and I am really feeling the benefit. My back pain has eased so much and I feel I am walking much better. I feel so much stronger. Lianne is so welcoming, puts you at your ease and it’s a lovely friendly environment, and you definitely feel the benefits. I really look forward to attending the class every week and it’s so nice to end with a chat over a coffee and a biscuit. I highly recommend giving it a try."

Jan (Older Adult Class):

"I have got arthritis in both knees & 1 hip. Have had physio & they said I’ve got to up exercise & do it regularly. I really want to avoid any more deterioration, so I thought I’d give the Older Adult class at LEO a go. I was a bit apprehensive as I thought it may be a bit hard & I wouldn’t be able to do all the exercises. Lianne was so welcoming & tailored exercises to all our abilities. I felt I worked hard but it was very enjoyable. My body definitely feels a lot easier & really look forward to the next session. I definitely have improved after a few sessions. My knees feel a lot easier & my balance has improved. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone. I have already told a couple of friends about it! It is such a friendly group, and definitely feel the benefit of exercising after only a few weeks. You work hard & enjoy a chat & cup of coffee after!"
